CANINE ENRICHMENT
The daily management of dogs in our care is focussed on their wellbeing, safety and comfort.
Canine environmental enrichment is an integral part of dog ownership and needs to be transitioned as seamlessly as possible from your home to when a dog becomes one of our guests. Enrichment gives dogs the mental, emotional and physical stimulation they need to stay occupied, happy, and healthy.
Enrichment is the process of making the dog’s living space interesting and stimulating to decrease boredom, inactivity, abnormal behaviour, and stress. Kennels are normally an unnatural environment for dogs and can potentially be stressful.
Therefore, the more that can be done to “enrich” and improve the environment in which dogs are accommodated they will better adapt more quickly, express natural behaviour, allowing them to settle and relax into the daily routine.
Environmental enrichment comes in many forms. Some elements are part of the construction of our dedicated facility, some are external aspects away from our guest’s suites and some will be the result of interaction with our dedicated and caring staff. Provision of environmental enrichment results in more relaxed, calm and far happier dogs.
We provide our guests a broad, stimulating environment incorporating:
